# Google Ads can now pull promotions from your website and put them into ads

Google Ads can automatically extract active offers from advertiser landing pages, verify them and attach them to eligible Search and Performance Max campaigns. That removes campaign work, but it also turns website copy into an advertising input that teams need to govern.

Automated promotions make the advertiser's own website a source for ad assets. Google can find an offer, validate it and surface it without a marketer manually creating the promotion.

## What changed

Google Ads has introduced Automated promotions, an account-level automated asset that identifies active promotional offers on advertiser websites and can attach them to eligible Search and Performance Max campaigns with location assets. Google's documentation says the system validates offers, skips campaigns that already use manual promotions and can show sourced promotions across Search or broader Google inventory. Individual automated promotions are currently eligible to serve for less than 24 hours before they may be re-enabled if Google can still verify the offer on the website. Advertisers can switch the feature off in account-level automated-asset settings.

## Why it matters

A landing page is no longer only the destination for an ad; its promotional copy can become input to the ad itself. That can reduce the work required to keep short-lived local offers in sync, but it also creates a governance problem: stale, ambiguous or accidentally public promotional text can influence paid creative. Teams that require exact dates, wording or legal approval may prefer manual promotion assets.

## Google extracts and verifies the offer

The system looks for active deals on advertiser landing pages, such as percentage discounts or buy-one-get-one offers, and can turn qualifying offers into promotion assets without a manual upload.

## Eligibility is deliberately narrow

Automated promotions currently apply to active Search or Performance Max campaigns with location assets. Campaigns with manual promotions are bypassed, preserving an explicit route for advertisers that need tighter control.

## Website state becomes campaign state

Google says automated promotions currently serve for less than 24 hours at a time and may be re-enabled while the offer remains visibly verifiable. The practical implication is that changing promotional text on a landing page can affect what Google is willing to surface in ads.

## Advertisers can opt out

The feature is managed under account-level automated assets and can be turned off. Google also lets advertisers inspect assets labelled as added by Google AI and recommends manual promotion uploads when exact control is required.

## Key details

- Automated promotions source offers directly from advertiser websites.
- The feature applies to eligible Search and Performance Max campaigns with location assets.
- Campaigns already using manual promotion assets are bypassed.
- Google says each sourced promotion currently serves for less than 24 hours before it may be revalidated and re-enabled.
- Advertisers can disable Automated promotions through account-level automated-asset settings.
- Assets sourced by the system are labelled as added by Google AI.

## Builder takeaways

- Treat public promotional copy on landing pages as a potential paid-ad input, not merely page content.
- Use manual promotions when dates, wording, exclusions or legal approval need deterministic control.
- Add checks to promotional publishing workflows so expired offers disappear cleanly from landing pages as well as campaign systems.
- Audit account-level automated-asset settings rather than assuming all ad creative was explicitly uploaded by the marketing team.

## What to watch

- Whether Google expands Automated promotions beyond campaigns with location assets.
- Whether Google begins extracting explicit promotion start/end dates instead of repeatedly revalidating short-lived assets.
- Whether Automated promotions become controllable through the Google Ads API at campaign or asset level.
- Independent evidence on conversion lift and erroneous/stale promotion extraction.

## Uncertainties

- Google has not published broad independent performance evidence for Automated promotions.
- Google says promotion start/end-date extraction is expected to change in the future, so current serving/revalidation behaviour is not necessarily permanent.
