Why it matters
Rosetta has allowed many Mac applications to postpone or soften the move from Intel to Apple silicon. Apple’s new guidance turns that compatibility layer into a dated migration dependency. Developers maintaining old binaries, helper tools, installers or bundled command-line components need to verify that the entire shipped product is Apple-silicon-native, not only the main application. The user-facing warnings beginning in macOS 26.4 also mean support burden can rise well before the final cutoff.
Warnings arrive before support disappears

macOS 27 is the final ordinary Rosetta release

The gaming exception is intentionally narrow
Apple will preserve some Rosetta functionality for older, unmaintained games that rely on Intel-only frameworks. Developers should not treat that exception as continuing general compatibility for normal Intel applications.
