What changed
Grafana announced Pages in public preview on October 19, 2026 and presented it during ObservabilityCON on October 20. In Grafana Cloud, users can describe a page in natural language and have Grafana Assistant generate custom visualisations, interactive layouts, forms, presentations or small apps using data sources already connected to the platform. Pages can connect to external tools via MCP for read/write operations, such as updating CRM records, with user review before each action. Pages inherit the existing Grafana foundation for connected data sources, sharing and permissions. Grafana's release notice explicitly lists no self-managed release.
Why it matters
Operations teams often export telemetry to build one-off reports, executive views or internal tools that do not fit standard dashboard panels. Pages offers a new route from existing live observability data to interactive interfaces without separate app deployment. Its optional external actions also extend observability from passive reading toward workflow execution, making permissions, review boundaries and generated-app reliability important questions.
From dashboards to custom interactive interfaces
Grafana says Pages can generate layouts, visualisations, forms, multi-slide presentations and small apps from natural-language descriptions. Pages read existing Grafana-connected data sources rather than requiring users to export or upload telemetry. This is a public preview, not evidence of universal feature completeness or production-grade generated code.
MCP actions move beyond passive reporting
A page can connect to other tools through MCP to read and write records, including CRM updates or sending Slack messages. Grafana says the user reviews each action before it executes. Teams should evaluate what credentials and permissions are available to a page and how the review step is enforced; a generated interface should not automatically inherit unrestricted write authority.
Cloud-only availability matters for self-hosters
Grafana's official feature notice says Pages is available in public preview for Grafana Cloud and lists no self-managed release. Self-hosted Grafana operators should not assume this capability can be installed as an open-source plugin today. The preview is reached through Assistant chat or Workspace by choosing Create a page.
Part of a larger agentic-operations rollout
ObservabilityCON also announced general availability of Assistant Watchers and OpenTelemetry support for Agent Observability, alongside preview Managed Sandboxes for code changes and pull requests. Those are separate capabilities. Grafana's survey and sponsored productivity claims describe vendor-associated evidence, not independently established benefits from Pages.
