GitHub Spark is shutting down August 31 — export code now and replace broken `llm()` calls

GitHub Spark stops being available to existing users on August 31, 2026. Deployed apps are meant to keep running, but owners should export code to a repository now; Spark apps using `llm()` need a separate inference provider because the underlying GitHub Models service retired July 30.

OpenAI says its Jalapeño chip reached tape-out in nine months with AI-assisted design

Jalapeño is working first-party silicon rather than a roadmap item, and OpenAI now says AI itself materially accelerated the design process. The distinction still matters: tape-out means the design was finalized for manufacturing; it does not mean fleet-scale production qualification or API deployment is complete.

Meta Muse turns a consumer AI assistant into a persistent agent — and its first Mac zero-day tests the containment model

Muse packages persistent autonomous execution, credentials, payments, app access and memory into a mainstream consumer product. A September macOS hotfix now provides an early real-world lesson: agent containment has to protect not only the cloud runtime but also the local control path into the agent.

Amazon ECS now separates control-plane failures from auxiliary-daemon failures on managed capacity

The newer `critical=false` daemon control changes ECS Managed Instances from an all-daemons-are-instance-critical model to an explicit reliability trade-off: logging, metrics or security agents can fail without forcing application workloads off the host, while ECS still emits health events and action logs.

Laravel Private Cloud now supports HIPAA workloads with dedicated infrastructure and BAAs

HIPAA support moves Laravel Cloud into a class of regulated workloads that shared application hosting could not safely claim. Private Cloud supplies dedicated tenancy, encryption, SSO/SAML, backups and a BAA path, while application-level access control, audit logging and PHI handling remain the developer’s responsibility.
