GitHub Actions is starting runtime brownouts for outdated self-hosted runners

Teams with pinned, custom-image or auto-update-disabled GitHub Actions runners can now see registration or job execution fail before the September 25 cutoff. The migration is not just a one-time jump to v2.329.0: already-registered runners must also stay within 30 days of the latest runner release.

Reddit opens Max campaign creation to third-party Ads API clients

The change makes Reddit's more automated campaign type usable by agencies, ad-tech platforms and internal campaign systems instead of only through first-party buying surfaces. It expands automation reach, but third-party builders inherit Max's creative and optimization assumptions rather than gaining a new manual campaign type.

Cloudflare Workers now enables Node.js compatibility by default for new compatibility dates

Cloudflare has inverted a long-standing Workers assumption: Node.js compatibility is now on by default for current compatibility dates. That reduces setup friction for many npm packages, but it also means developers need to understand compatibility-date boundaries, partial APIs and explicit opt-out flags.

Gmail will stop sending as third-party addresses in January 2027

From January 2027, Gmail will no longer send mail as non-Google addresses or fetch third-party accounts through Gmailify/POP on the web. Forwarding into Gmail and third-party accounts in the mobile app remain available, so small-business and custom-domain users need to distinguish the affected desktop workflow from Gmail’s broader mail protocols.

Pantheon starts moving existing WordPress and Drupal sites off its Valhalla filesystem

This is a platform architecture migration rather than a user-facing feature. Pantheon says no action is required, but builders operating storage-sensitive WordPress or Drupal workloads should know when their tier moves and verify backup, restore and file-handling behavior around the change.

AWS is acquiring DuckLabs while DuckDB stays under independent foundation stewardship

The DuckLabs deal separates company ownership from project governance: AWS gets the team behind DuckDB, while the DuckDB Foundation keeps stewardship and the MIT license stays in place. Builders should watch whether that separation remains meaningful as AWS integrates the Duck Stack into its analytics services.

Reddit’s tracked share of ChatGPT Search citations fell 86% in mid-August

A third-party GEO dataset recorded an 86.4% relative collapse in Reddit’s visible ChatGPT Search citation share while Google AI citation changes were much smaller. The result is a useful warning against building an AI-discovery strategy around one source platform, not proof of an OpenAI penalty or Reddit removal.
