Homebrew 7.0 turns package vulnerability checks into a built-in workflow — after closing a sudo-capable cask flaw

The practical change is bigger than another package-manager version. Homebrew can now tell operators whether vulnerabilities are actually outstanding in the formula revisions they installed, while its own recent advisories show why package-manager metadata, uninstall paths and build isolation deserve the same scrutiny as package contents.

Cloudflare Containers exposed previous tenants’ disk data through unzeroed blocks

This was not a Firecracker escape or access to a live victim disk. It was a storage-isolation failure underneath the sandbox: researchers recovered foreign directory structures, database pages and complete SQLite databases from reused blocks, and Cloudflare had to fix allocation plus retire existing disks and cached snapshots.

GitHub’s OAuth apps get short-lived tokens, multiple callbacks — and a wildcard setting worth auditing

GitHub OAuth apps can now use eight-hour access tokens with rotating refresh tokens, register up to 10 callback URLs, and explicitly control wildcard callback matching. New apps default to expiring tokens, while existing single-callback apps should review a legacy wildcard setting GitHub has now made visible.

GitHub rewrote Copilot’s 800,000-line agent runtime in Rust with agents doing most of the coding

The useful part is not the 800,000-line headline. GitHub has published unusually detailed receipts for a production-scale agent-assisted migration: roughly $120,000 of token spend, 14.5 weeks of incremental releases, dozens of regressions, extensive compatibility tests and a workload-specific jump from 7.55 to 120 session lifecycles per second.

Railway makes MySQL automatic failover generally available with Group Replication and HAProxy

Railway’s managed MySQL path can now gain automatic failover without rebuilding the database elsewhere. The trade-off is real operational complexity: conversion briefly drops connections, hard-coded URLs need manual repair, replicas are for failover rather than read scaling, and each extra database/proxy node consumes billable resources.
