Meta’s approved U.S. teen settlement makes daily limits and nighttime blocks default on Instagram and Facebook

The settlement has crossed from proposed agreement to approved operating constraint. Meta now says the two-hour limit counts activity across Facebook, Instagram and detected multiple accounts, while teens also gain controls for non-algorithmic feeds and autoplay; most terms are required to remain in place for ten years.

Sign in with Apple is moving new relay addresses to private.icloud.com

Apple has narrowed an earlier plan to unify Sign in with Apple and iCloud+ Hide My Email domains: only new Sign in with Apple relay addresses are moving to `private.icloud.com`, while Hide My Email stays on `icloud.com`. Existing relay addresses continue working, making this a compatibility migration rather than an address replacement.

Google is adding hard spend caps and commitment pricing for AI agent workloads

Google’s new agent FinOps model combines hard monthly spend caps that pause agent API calls, Flexible Savings Plans with one- or three-year commitments, pay-as-you-go Gemini Enterprise usage and planned deferred execution at up to half normal inference cost. The controls are useful, but commitment economics and task eligibility need to be modeled carefully.

OpenAI lets one API project choose regional processing per request

OpenAI’s August 21 control moves processing-region choice into request routing: a single Global project can send eligible calls to regional base URLs. That simplifies multi-region SaaS architecture, but builders still need to enforce residency policy in code and account for support, retention and pricing constraints.

AWS has added a `REFERENCE` mode for Lambda deployment packages. It eliminates duplicate managed copies, raises the default managed-storage quota to 300GB, and gives teams direct control over encryption, lifecycle and audit policy—but a deleted or inaccessible source object can now make a function inactive.
