Gmail will stop sending as third-party addresses in January 2027

From January 2027, Gmail will no longer send mail as non-Google addresses or fetch third-party accounts through Gmailify/POP on the web. Forwarding into Gmail and third-party accounts in the mobile app remain available, so small-business and custom-domain users need to distinguish the affected desktop workflow from Gmail’s broader mail protocols.

Laravel Private Cloud now supports HIPAA workloads with dedicated infrastructure and BAAs

HIPAA support moves Laravel Cloud into a class of regulated workloads that shared application hosting could not safely claim. Private Cloud supplies dedicated tenancy, encryption, SSO/SAML, backups and a BAA path, while application-level access control, audit logging and PHI handling remain the developer’s responsibility.

Apple is replacing its EU App Store install fee with a unified commission model

Apple’s October EU terms rewrite replaces the per-install Core Technology Fee with transaction commissions and lets alternative payments coexist with IAP. The exact rate table makes the economics clearer: developers need to model checkout method, program eligibility and distribution channel rather than install scale alone.

SaaS Capital’s 2026 survey puts median private SaaS ARR per employee at $141K

Private SaaS teams now have a fresher efficiency baseline: median ARR per employee rose to $141,125, and bootstrapped businesses lead equity-backed peers on the metric across company sizes. The same survey family shows bootstrapped $3M–$20M SaaS companies growing more slowly but generally operating with stronger cost discipline.

Meta Muse turns a consumer AI assistant into a persistent agent — and its first Mac zero-day tests the containment model

Muse packages persistent autonomous execution, credentials, payments, app access and memory into a mainstream consumer product. A September macOS hotfix now provides an early real-world lesson: agent containment has to protect not only the cloud runtime but also the local control path into the agent.

WordPress Studio is making an agentic build loop the default desktop experience

Studio Code was already available in WordPress Studio, but the August 24 redesign changes the default workflow: the coding agent now sits at the center of the desktop app beside a live local WordPress preview, with point-and-annotate feedback and one-click hosting sync. The beta also ends the earlier unlimited-free framing by introducing a credit limit and paid top-ups.

Paddle brings recurring Pix payments to SaaS subscriptions in Brazil

Brazilian customers can authorize Pix Automático mandates for Paddle subscriptions without a separate early-access application. The path broadens local-payment access for SaaS, while delayed renewals, fixed mandate amounts and re-authorisation requirements still create implementation caveats.

GitSpawn shows how a repository’s own Git config can escape AI coding-agent safety boundaries

The useful lesson is architectural rather than vendor-specific: coding agents inherit execution paths from ordinary developer tooling. If an agent shells out to Git without sanitising repository-local configuration, a hidden `.git/config` can become a host-level command channel that bypasses the controls users think govern the model.

GitHub Enterprise Server 3.22 brings Copilot CLI into disconnected and air-gapped environments

The technical-preview feature separates Copilot CLI from GitHub Cloud for core coding, shell and repository workflows, giving regulated and isolated environments a supported agent path while leaving cloud-dependent capabilities such as GitHub-hosted model selection and web search unavailable.
