Cloud SQL’s SQL Server HA path is becoming more transparent to applications: supported proxies and connectors can target one write endpoint and be redirected when the primary changes. Teams still need retry-safe connection handling around the failover itself.
For agent and untrusted-code workloads, the useful change is not simply lower latency. Sandbox location becomes an explicit execution policy, so teams can align code execution with nearby data and avoid a resilience fallback quietly moving work outside an allowed region.
Railway’s managed MySQL path can now gain automatic failover without rebuilding the database elsewhere. The trade-off is real operational complexity: conversion briefly drops connections, hard-coded URLs need manual repair, replicas are for failover rather than read scaling, and each extra database/proxy node consumes billable resources.
Agent Identity is moving from a standalone credential boundary into a mainstream serverless runtime. Cloud Run can now assign agent identities and register agents/MCP servers automatically, reducing custom discovery and identity plumbing while keeping the runtime integration itself in Preview.
Cloudflare now sits on both sides of the policy boundary. Site owners can publish and enforce crawler preferences, while developers using Cloudflare’s own crawl API must declare intended uses and can receive hard failures when a target site disallows them.
The change is separate from post-quantum TLS. DNSSEC signatures authenticate DNS records, and ML-DSA-44 makes them dramatically larger — 2,420 bytes per signature — while dual-signing with older algorithms creates a downgrade path unless resolvers enforce the post-quantum chain deliberately.
The change is not about where database rows live; Cloud SQL already has regional instance placement. It changes where API control traffic is processed, reducing dependence on global frontend infrastructure and making data-in-transit boundaries easier to align with sovereignty requirements.
The useful shift is automation at the CDN-to-origin boundary: operators no longer need to manually force post-quantum key exchange, while Cloudflare says its measured HelloRetryRequest rate fell from about 52% to 3.7% across the scanned cohort.
The change makes heavier frameworks and dependency trees deployable to Workers without plan-specific compressed-size ceilings, but it also changes what builders need to measure: the operative limit is now uncompressed Total Upload rather than the gzip number they may have optimized around.
Cloudflare has inverted a long-standing Workers assumption: Node.js compatibility is now on by default for current compatibility dates. That reduces setup friction for many npm packages, but it also means developers need to understand compatibility-date boundaries, partial APIs and explicit opt-out flags.
Self-Hosted Machines changes the architecture of Cursor’s Cloud Agents more than another model option would. Teams can keep code, build outputs, secrets and terminal/browser actions on infrastructure they control, but the planning/inference loop remains a Cursor service and enterprise teams become responsible for worker images, scaling, secrets and production validation.
The interesting part is not another AI scanner. Cloudflare is connecting source-code evidence to what is actually deployed and being attacked at the edge, validating findings outside the model, then preparing both a code patch and, where appropriate, a narrowly scoped WAF mitigation for customer review.
Cloudflare’s first half-year DDoS report records 935 network-layer attacks above 1 Tbps and a 519% Q1-to-Q2 increase, but says 96.62% of attacks stayed below 500 Mbps and 90.60% ended within 10 minutes. The figures are Cloudflare-network telemetry, not a neutral census of the internet.
The limits themselves were already documented; the material change is enforcement. Free-tier D1 workloads that previously relied on soft overage behavior now need query-cost awareness, indexes and a plan for temporary failures or paid migration.
Cloud Run instances sit between autoscaling serverless services and a small VM. They run one individually addressable container continuously, can be stopped and restarted, and use shared CPU economics; Google’s launch example prices 1 vCPU plus 1 GiB running for 30 days at $5.70.
The migration turns integration identity from an implicit platform detail into an operational dependency. Teams may need new run-as accounts and `Service Account User` grants not only for runtimes but also for editors, publishers, approvers and deployment automation.
HIPAA support moves Laravel Cloud into a class of regulated workloads that shared application hosting could not safely claim.
